ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of covid-19 lockdown on marriage using Lagos State as case study. The study adopted a survey research design and with the aid of convenient sampling techniques, 147 participants who are couples residing in Lagos State was enrolled for the study. A well structured questionnaire was issued to the respondent of which a total of 141responses were received and validated for the study. Data was analyzed using simple percentage as well as frequencies and table. Hypothesis test was conducted using Chi-Square statistical tool (Spss v.2.3).Findings from the study revealed that the pandemic put so many marriages under significant pressure as couples struggle to navigate financial hardships, lack of privacy, stress over medical concerns, and family and professional worries. Finding from the study revealed that the covid-19 lock down inn the midst of the pressure, some couple made the best of it by bonding more with each other and building of stronger relationship. The study therefore recommends that 2.Couples should lower their expectations of each other during crises periods, since partners may be unable to provide support each other in the same ways they did pre and post pandemic. Moreso , couples should seek therapy and counsel when they need help. finally, Family counsellor should organize workshops, seminars and conferences whereby couples would be sensitized on causes of marital disharmony and resolution strategies for resolving marital disharmony.
